國民黨主席朱立倫多次表示會把新北市長「做好、做滿」，不過，前台中市長胡志強認為，朱立倫的參選至今仍有可能性存在，就在「朱習會」後，網路出現一個「希望產生器」，勸進朱立倫攻向2016大位。

外界分析，朱立倫可能以「朱習會」成敗作為參選關鍵，胡志強日前接受「中時」訪問時則提到，朱立倫不但是國民黨目前最強的總統候選人，從這次朱習會的過程中，也可看出朱立倫將台灣福祉放在最前面，所以才會直接提出加入亞投行等區域經濟的議題。

朱立倫本人則說，5月16日會向大家報告黨內及個人規劃。這天，是國民黨總統初選領表暨連署的最後截止日。

當立法院長王金平玩起「王院長回應產生器」，拉霸拉到「朱主席選不選，金平，不勉強」；網路上現在也有一個「拱朱」網站寫著：「小英可以空空，台灣不能空；2016後的台灣，怎麼辦？現在，需要真正有使命感的人才出來承擔！為了台灣，為了這個國家；朱立倫，你能否再考慮一下？」
